The deadline for most intermountain river permit applications is Jan. 31. The Salt River is Jan. 15.

1) Aapplications for trips in 2005 will not be accepted before Jan 3 (the
first business day of next year).
2) Applications are not accepted over the phone (though people are more
than welcome to telephone the Reservation Office for assistance), but
are instead accepted by fax or mail.
3) permits for Cat are NOT based on any sort of lottery, so
it isn't necessary to send in applications on "opening day". Quite
literally, simply getting an application in a reasonable amount of
time --read that: 'allowing for sufficient mailing time'-- in advance
of one's trip is all that's necessary.
