Grills are solid 5/16" diameter stainless steel, case is sturdy 5052 aluminum. the handles, latches, hinges and attached tabs are all installed with aircraft-type solid rivets: no hollow "pop" rivets are used. The large Griddle does not work on the hinge on the end please order the smaller griddle as it will hang over and likely burn your hoses or O-rings.
